Official academic transcripts are submitted through AADSAS, which verifies all information. Applicants’ official grades and updates are available to Boston University in the electronic application file.
Official DAT scores are required of all applicants. Canadian DATs are accepted. Applicants must submit DAT results from a test taken within two years of the application date.
The Admissions Committee values letters from persons who are able to provide a thoughtful, thorough, and candid assessment of an applicant’s academic ability and potential for success in dental study. Letters of evaluation are submitted through AADSAS. Requirements for evaluation letters:
Two or three faculty evaluations, including two from science faculty. The applicant should request references from faculty who can evaluate the student’s performance in the academic setting.
  • - One letter of recommendation from a dentist mentor is requested, if the applicant has dental shadowing experience.
  • - If the applicant’s college or university has a pre-dental or pre-health advisory committee, its composite or committee evaluation is requested. The committee evaluation fulfills the letters of recommendation requirement.
Research, employment, extra-curricular activities and community involvement have been restricted.
Boston University requires submission of a $75 application fee (separate from the AADSAS fee).
During the 2020-2021 cycle, interviews will be conducted remotely through Zoom. Applicants may interview only if invited. A personal interview is required for admission, but an interview does not guarantee admission. Due to the high volume of applications, applicants or prospective applicants cannot be granted informational or informal interviews.
