Stanford Medical School application begins at the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). The application period starts at the beginning of June and ends in October with no extensions. Once submitted, the application is processed in weeks. You’ll need to do the MCAT to be eligible for admission.Students must also submit three to six letters of recommendation to AMCA, which will be forwarded to the admissions office. Once your application goes through, you’ll be invited to fill out a supplemental application and attend an interview. Application is open to American citizens, permanent residents of the US, valid visa holders, DACA individuals, international and undocumented students.

All MCAT test scores taken are sent automatically by AAMC to the medical schools. With regard to the 2021 application cycle, applications may be submitted without an MCAT score taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, March 14 - September 30, 2020. For Stanford Medicine applicants without any prior reported MCAT scores, MCAT is optional for the 2021 application cycle. For Stanford Medicine applicants who have tested, all MCAT scores will automatically be sent to Stanford Medicine.
All letters of recommendation must be submitted through the AMCAS Letters Service. A minimum of three and a maximum of six individual letters of recommendation is required. All letters must be written on official letterhead and signed by the recommender(s) or committee members. All letters must reach the Admissions Office from AMCAS no later than 11:59 PM Pacific Time on November 5, 2020.

What International Applicants to Medical School Must Have
The admissions criteria applied in evaluating international applicants are the same as those for U.S. citizens. All application materials, including transcripts and recommendations, must be submitted online and in English.
International students must have studied for at least one academic year at an accredited college or university in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom prior to applying for admission. International students are considered for admission to Stanford Medicine without regard to their country of origin. Prior to certification of an I-20 document, an international student must prove sufficient funds to meet one year of expenses while studying. Without written evidence of having financial support for one year, an international student will not be granted a student visa.
